Crossing oceans and mountains, cultures find common ground; with language as a bridge, we meet in friendship. To build a cross-cultural connection and showcase our campus's diverse and open atmosphere, the Training Program on International Communication of Traditional Culture for Developing Countries recently visited Gengdan Institute for an immersive campus tour and cultural exchange. Faculty and students from our International Office and the School of Humanities participated throughout the visit, serving as guides and interpreters. With fluent foreign language skills and genuine warmth, they acted as ambassadors of our campus culture and facilitators of Sino-foreign friendship.

With warm sunshine and a gentle breeze, the visiting delegation, guided by our faculty and students, toured the Museum of Ancient Architecture, the Engineering Training Center, the gymnasium, and the lush campus grounds. Walking along the tidy and pleasant pathways, they took in the well-arranged buildings and the vibrant campus atmosphere, gaining an immersive sense of the institute's educational character and cultural heritage.    

The delegation first visited the Museum of Ancient Architecture to view the institute's collection of ancient architectural art exhibits. The diverse and highly creative works deeply captivated the visitors. They paused to admire them closely, frequently praising the unique beauty of the pieces. Their appreciation was unmistakable—many took out their phones and cameras to capture the moments, preserving images of these artistic treasures that represent Chinese culture, while experiencing Chinese architectural culture and the institute's rich artistic heritage.

The delegation then visited the campus gymnasium and training centers to experience the well-equipped sports facilities. They enjoyed friendly games of billiards and tennis matches, with laughter filling the courts. The overseas guests relaxed and unwound in the light-hearted interactions, soaking in the vibrant youthful atmosphere of the campus and getting a closer look at campus recreational and cultural life.

At the end of the tour, the delegation and our faculty and students moved to the comprehensive building for a discussion session. Mr. Zhu from the International Office gave a detailed introduction to the visiting delegation about the institute's educational philosophy, distinctive features, talent cultivation model, and the development of specialized programs.

During the exchange session, faculty members from the International Office and the School of Humanities, drawing on the institute's founding mission and development plans, presented a systematic overview of its educational strengths, program features, teaching resources, and international achievements in talent cultivation. They clearly explained the highlights, growth prospects, and directions for international cooperation of each distinctive program.

The visiting delegates listened attentively and showed keen interest. They spoke highly of the institute's well-established educational system, distinctive program features, and strong learning environment.

This campus visit and exchange activity not only gave the international participants of the Training Program on International Communication of Traditional Culture for Developing Countries a deeper understanding of our campus environment and educational atmosphere, but also provided valuable hands-on opportunities for our students majoring in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language.

As an old Chinese saying goes,“Knowledge gained from books is only superficial; true understanding comes from practice.”This hands-on experience has truly strengthened the students' oral expression and cross-cultural communication skills, and deepened their understanding of the professional mission of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language: to spread the Chinese language, promote Chinese culture, and connect the world. With language as our medium, we learn from each other; with heart as our bridge, we move forward together toward a brighter future.

Looking ahead, our institute will continue to build diverse exchange platforms to help young students broaden their international perspectives and sharpen their professional skills. Our TCFL students will always stay true to their passion and original aspirations—cultivating a deep knowledge of language, passing on Chinese culture, and shining in every cross-cultural exchange.
