On May 22, more than 30 faculty members and students from universities in Belgium, the United States, and the Netherlands visited Gengdan Institute of Beijing University of Technology.They toured the campus to learn about its educational environment and teaching strengths.The delegation was led by Professor Pina Chimino from PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Belgium), Professor Michael Stoica from Washburn University (USA), and Professor Edward Overs from Zuyd University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands).Faculty member Gao Sheng from the Marketing program of the International Business School and Liu Yan from the Office of Student Affairs accompanied the guests throughout the visit. They introduced the institute’s distinctive features and research achievements in detail, presenting a full picture of its international education standards to the overseas visitors.

First, Mr. Gao Sheng gave a presentation to the visiting delegation in the lecture hall on the first floor of the International Business School. He introduced the institute’s general profile and educational features, highlighting its applied and international orientation. He also explained the current progress in industry-education integration, teaching development, and research activities.

The delegation then toured the Gengdan Bowen Center, the Engineering Training Center, the Museum of Ancient Architecture, and the Shaoxin Art Gallery—all of which serve as hands-on teaching facilities. The visiting faculty and students spoke highly of the institute’s distinctive educational philosophy and teaching model, and expressed a strong desire to participate in international exchange programs.

After the tour, Dean Tian Ye of the International Business School, Associate Dean Shan Wenbo, faculty member Gao Sheng, and Mr. Zhu Jiangyi from the International Office held a meeting with the delegation leaders.

Dean Tian Ye introduced the institute's history and educational philosophy, highlighting its commitment to integrating industry with education and enhancing students' employability. Associate Dean Shan Wenbo gave an overview of the International Business School's development and its internationalization strategy. Mr. Gao Sheng presented the project-based teaching model of the marketing program, demonstrating an approach that responds to industry needs and fosters learning through skill development. Mr. Zhu Jiangyi explained the institute's system for international cooperation and exchange.

The foreign guests shared their experiences in talent cultivation in the context of digital transformation. Both sides held in-depth discussions on innovation in business education and explored opportunities for future cooperation.

This visit by the delegations from Belgium, the U.S., and the Netherlands not only served as an important reflection of the institute's internationalization efforts but also provided a valuable opportunity for overseas students to gain a closer understanding of China. Chinese and international students engaged in friendly and meaningful exchanges.

Looking ahead, the International Business School will continue to rely on international cooperation platforms such as NIBS to expand exchanges and collaboration with more universities worldwide. This will create more opportunities for students to broaden their global perspectives and for faculty to participate in international academic dialogue and joint course development.
